The museum fund of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute has been enriched with over a thousand new exhibits over the past year, thanks to donations from both citizens of the Republic of Armenia and foreigners. This was stated by Harutyun Marutyan, Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. These include personal belongings, documents, photographs, and more. In particular, historian Kevork Yazyjian donated numerous posters, appeals, and writings used in the Lebanese-Armenian reality pertaining to the years 1960-2020, dedicated to the theme of the Armenian Genocide. In recent weeks, as a donation, more than a dozen paintings by the Belgian-based artist Samo Aslanyan were handed over to the museum. Vahan Purnazyan transferred the Purnazyan-Ananyan family relics — clocks and banknotes of the First Republic of Armenia. From Switzerland, Felix Ziegler’s book by Swiss missionary Hagop Künzler was received, with the author’s inscription addressed to Karen Yeppe. Aram Grigoryan donated photographs and letters of Hedwig Bül. From Rev. Shnorhk Chékijian, residing in Switzerland, were received the handcrafted belt and jeweler’s tools of Arabkir-born goldsmith Sarkis Kezubulukyan. In total, the museum fund has been enriched with 1,423 exhibits.
In 2021, the museum’s library was enriched with 913 volumes of literature. In particular, the museum was enriched with more than 50 volumes from the personal library of genocide scholar Israel Charny. Thanks to an agreement with the directorship of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the library has been enriched with approximately 70 titles of professional literature published by the Institute of History over the past 10 years.
