The United States is calling on Armenia and Azerbaijan to ease the tensions existing between the two countries. Such a statement was made by Ned Price, the official representative of the United States Department of State, during a press briefing.
“Our message to both countries — Armenia and Azerbaijan — as well as to the region, is that it is necessary to find a way to ease the tensions. Efforts must be made to once again stand on the path of lasting peace,” he said.
According to Price, the United States has been engaged in those efforts, both in the form of bilateral relations and multilaterally. He added that they will continue to do everything possible, both directly with the parties and through other structures, to advance the aforementioned goal.
Price expressed the hope that other countries are also moving forward with this message.
Referring to the visit of Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan to Turkey, Price noted that the United States welcomes all countries of the world that have stood by the people of Turkey and Syria following the earthquakes.
