Armenia and India are expanding cooperation in various fields. The foreign ministers of the two countries have reached clear agreements on the implementation of tangible and effective programs in a number of areas.
This was stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint press conference following his meeting with India’s Foreign Minister in Yerevan.
According to the Minister, his Indian counterpart’s visit testifies to the ever-expanding and deepening relations between the two friendly states and peoples. This visit will promote Armenian-Indian cooperation in all fields.
“India is one of Armenia’s most important partners, and the further strengthening of cooperation is among the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy. This can be seen in the government’s program,” Mirzoyan noted.
He expressed satisfaction with the agreements reached during the meetings, reaffirming the Armenian side’s readiness to swiftly implement all the agreements. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and India. The Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of the two countries taking steps in the defense, political, economic, and cultural spheres to raise relations to a new level.
“Our cooperation within international organizations will also continue to deepen, and mutual support will be strengthened,” said Mirzoyan, congratulating India on its effective presidency of the UN Security Council.
Armenia reaffirms its position and support for India regarding the issue of obtaining permanent membership in the Security Council.
Referring to the bilateral agenda, Mirzoyan noted that cooperation between Armenia and India is developing in the spheres of trade, education, culture, healthcare, science, defense, and people-to-people exchanges. “In terms of bilateral cooperation, our expectations are, in fact, much greater. During this visit and the meetings, we reached clear agreements on the implementation of much more tangible and effective programs in a number of areas,” said Mirzoyan.
The Armenian side put forward a proposal to organize bilateral political consultations and the next joint session of the intergovernmental commission.
