Despite the fact that this year September 1 coincides with a Sunday, “Knowledge Day” will be marked in all schools of Armenia.
This was announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
The same agenda was discussed by Ashot Arshakyan, head of the General Education Department of the RA Ministry of Education and Science, who specifically said:
“That day (referring to September 1, ed. ‘Ramgavar Mamoul’) is a holiday; September 1 is Knowledge Day. Each school organises the festive event in its own way, and although it is Sunday, it is the day of the event.”
Arshakyan also said, in response, that the educational programme has not undergone changes and that part of the textbooks will be reprinted.
Arshakyan also noted that important steps are being taken to reduce the number of books students use on a daily basis, thereby lightening the students’ backpacks. Arshakyan also assured that there is no problem with history textbooks; if the reprint deadline has expired, then the textbook will be reprinted.
