American renowned travel journalist Brianna Wilson has presented her impressions of Armenian cuisine in an article published in Forbes.
“Armenian cuisine stands out for its diversity. It is not only rich in flavors, but also has a rich history. The dishes presented with simplicity and especially the wine traditions, which are among the world’s first, can only be understood after visiting the country. This makes Armenia a place that should no longer be overlooked, particularly by oenophiles and wine lovers and connoisseurs,” the article states, according to Panorama.am.
But what is it about Armenian cuisine that has captured the traveler’s attention? “You feel the ‘explosive flavor’ in every bite. From khash to aged cheese, behind every dish, even the simplest, there is a tradition or story preserved,” writes the author of the piece.
According to her, visiting Yerevan’s local restaurants and cafes gives only a superficial idea of Armenian cuisine. The best way to study Armenian cuisine is to interact with people who preserve the heritage and traditions of the Armenian people.
