India is to supply Armenia with a large consignment of arms and ammunition worth around 250 million US dollars. This was reported by the Indian periodical The Economic Times.
It was noted that corresponding agreements were signed between the governments of the two countries since the beginning of September. The total of these documents has not been disclosed, but according to the periodical’s data, the figure could be around 20 billion rupees, which in dollars amounts to more than 244 million dollars.
Sources of The Economic Times have stated that the order includes locally produced Pinaka multiple launch rocket systems, the export of which would be the first time in history.
The Indian army recently received an order for 6 additional regiments of these systems, which is also testing long-range missiles for the launch platforms.
Within the scope of the deal, India is also to supply Armenia with anti-tank missiles and numerous other ammunition.
It was noted that this is not the first case of exporting weapons systems to Armenia. India had also sold arms to Armenia in 2020. The Armenian side had then acquired 4 Swathi-type counter-battery radars for about 40 million dollars.
Let us recall that as early as July of this year, Indian media had reported on the visit of a delegation of the RA Ministry of Defense to New Delhi with the aim of discussing military supplies.
