Next week, the Armenian Genocide recognition resolution will be put to discussion and vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone made a post about this on his Twitter page.

“Next week, the U.S. House of Representatives will hold a historic vote to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide. America must speak out against crimes against humanity, especially since Turkey is threatening a new ethnic cleansing campaign in northern Syria,” he stated.

The Armenian Assembly of America reports that the number of supporters of the resolution is growing. “The Armenian Assembly of America highly appreciates the efforts of the members of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues and welcomes the decision to bring H.Res.296 to the House of Representatives. This bipartisan resolution affirms the Armenian Genocide and America’s unprecedented humanitarian assistance extended to the survivors of the first genocide of the 20th century,” said Bryan Ardouny, Executive Director of the Armenian Assembly of America.

Earlier, Congressmen Adam Schiff and Gus Bilirakis had taken the initiative to introduce a new resolution regarding the Armenian Genocide. The measure aims to reject the denial of the Armenian Genocide, to promote recognition and remembrance by the U.S. government, and to emphasize the importance of raising awareness about the Armenian Genocide in preventing similar crimes in the future.

“We are pleased to announce that the Armenian Genocide recognition resolution will be sent to a vote. The genocide, which took place from 1915 to 1923 and resulted in the deaths of 1.5 million Armenians, as well as members of other ethnic groups, was documented by American diplomats,” declared the members of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues.

American media outlets, addressing this topic, consider it likely that next week Democrats will secure passage of the resolution in the House of Representatives.
