Turkey cannot have any role in the Karabakh process. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, in response to a statement by Turkey’s foreign minister.
In response to a question regarding the Turkish foreign minister’s meeting with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, and how Turkey’s involvement in the Karabakh process is assessed, Anna Naghdalyan, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Department of Information and Public Diplomacy, responded: — “The corresponding response of the RA Foreign Minister has already been given. Let us add that with its unfriendly policy towards Armenia and the Armenian people, which within the framework of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is also expressed in the one-sided military-political support shown to Azerbaijan, Turkey cannot have any role in the process of peaceful settlement of the NK issue.”
The day before, during a meeting with the co-chairs, Mevlut Cavusoglu had called on them to intensify efforts aimed at resolving the Karabakh conflict.
“The OSCE Minsk Group must work more effectively towards the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. That solution must fully correspond to the principles of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the internationally recognized borders of that country,” the head of Turkey’s foreign policy department had declared.
