Haykak Arshamyan, Executive Director of the “Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund, on 9 September handed over around 70,000 dollars to the Armenian embassy near Damascus, which is to be transferred to the Armenians of Syria, with the aim of alleviating the severe health and socio-economic situation caused by the “Corona” pandemic.
According to the Fund’s communiqué, the donated collection has been distributed proportionally: 30,000 dollars to the Armenian educational institutions of Syria, for 502 teachers, as well as 42 service staff.
“At the same time, a total of 40,000 dollars in assistance has been provided to our compatriots receiving hospital treatment in Syria for the ‘Corona’ viral disease,” the communiqué stated.
The collected sums were allocated from the fund generated by the fundraising campaign “Covid-19 Armenia: Let us overcome the pandemic together.”
