The regular elections for the President of the Republic of Artsakh and the National Assembly will take place on 31 March 2020.
According to a report by Armenpress, this was announced by the press service of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Artsakh.
“In accordance with Part A of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Republic of Artsakh, the regular presidential election shall be held 50 days before the expiration of the president’s term of office.
In accordance with Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Artsakh, the regular election of the National Assembly shall be held simultaneously with the presidential election,” said Srbuhi Arzumanyan, Chair of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Artsakh, on 20 January on Artsakh Public Radio and Public Television.
She noted that, guided by a number of provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Artsakh and the Electoral Code, 31 March 2020 has been declared the day of the regular elections for the President of the Republic of Artsakh and the National Assembly.
On the basis of Part C of Article 97 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Artsakh, the day of voting in the nationwide elections — Tuesday, 31 March 2020 — has been declared a non-working day.
