Per one million residents, we have already surpassed Iran and France in the number of coronavirus cases, and have matched Russia’s figures. This was stated today, May 29, by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press briefing following a Cabinet meeting.
“If this rate continues, we will reach Italy’s numbers. This rate of spread of the epidemic, regardless of what percentage is symptomatic and what percentage is asymptomatic, automatically leads to an increase in severe and extremely severe cases, as well as in deaths.
The reason for such a situation is the widespread failure to observe anti-epidemic rules and our citizens’ failure to treat the epidemic alerts with due seriousness,” said Pashinyan.
He noted that today, in the courtyards of Yerevan, the following message has already been conveyed in the name of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, through the vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
“We call on all of you to wear masks and to remove them only when eating. The mask must be worn in such a way that it covers your nose and mouth. Disinfect your hands regularly and do not touch your face with unwashed hands.
Maintain a social distance of one and a half metres and avoid contact without a mask with persons who are not members of your family.
Dear compatriots, wear masks and thereby you will save hundreds of lives.
Masks must be changed every three to four hours. You may use not only factory-made masks, but also masks made by yourselves.”
“That is, without a mask, have contact only with members of your family. This also applies to other residents of your building in your courtyards,” said Pashinyan.
He added that they are 100 percent confident that the quality observance of these rules will not only lead to a decrease in the number of infected, but will also help us overcome the epidemic.
