Australia’s Parliament Adopts Resolution Recognizing the Armenian Genocide

The House of Representatives of Australia’s Federal Parliament has unanimously adopted a motion calling on the Australian government to recognize the genocides of Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks. The resolution honors the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and calls on the Australian government to uphold its commitments as a signatory to the UN Genocide Convention by recognizing the genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire against Armenians, Assyrians, Greeks and other Christian minorities from 1915 to 1923.
