Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office has declared a wanted notice for a group of Armenian businessmen from Russia, headed by Ara Abrahamyan, president of the Union of Armenians of Russia.
We present the absurd text of the statement of Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office as it has been published in Azerbaijani media outlets.
“An investigation has been conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of information published in a number of mass media outlets and social networks regarding the illegal import of weapons and military equipment into the Republic of Armenia and from there to the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
It has been established that Samvel Sargsi Karapetyan, head of the ‘Tashir’ group of companies, who is known in Armenia as the ‘grey cardinal’, and David Galstyan, owner of ‘Royalsys Engineering’, Ara Arshaviri Abrahamyan, general director of the ‘KOMEX’ company, and others, with the aim of arming the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia with weapons, ammunition, explosives and military equipment, in violation of the Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods and the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, organised between 2001 and 2021, through passenger aircraft, the Il-76 TD cargo aircraft of the Armenian Air Force, as well as the ‘Ilyushin-76TD’ cargo aircraft acquired by Ara Abrahamyan, the smuggling by air of illegally obtained large-calibre combat firearms, ammunition, explosives and equipment into the Republic of Armenia and from there to Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia.
On 20 April 2021, the Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and the investigation of the case was assigned to the Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Samvel Sargsi Karapetyan, David Galstyan and Ara Abrahamyan are charged under articles 100.1, 218.1, 228.3, 279.1 and 206.4 of the Criminal Code, arrest has been chosen as a preventive measure against them, and an international wanted notice has been declared for all of them.
In connection with the aforementioned criminal case, the Prosecutor General’s Office has sent a request to the relevant state bodies of foreign countries for the provision of legal assistance.
The Prosecutor General’s Office declares that all possible measures are being taken to bring those guilty of these and other similar crimes to responsibility in accordance with international law.”
