Azerbaijan is deliberately disrupting the normal operation of vital infrastructure in Nagorno-Karabakh, which clearly leads to the creation of a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, official Yerevan declares.
With the evident interference of the Azerbaijani side, near the city of Shushi, in territory under Azerbaijani control, the supply of natural gas from Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh has again been disrupted. Thus, amid unprecedented snowfall and unprecedented freezing weather conditions, Nagorno-Karabakh’s population of approximately 120,000 has been deprived of essential gas supply.
Just a few days ago, Azerbaijan, for 8 consecutive days, did not allow work to be carried out to repair the gas pipeline that had been damaged under unclear circumstances in the same location.
Thus, in addition to its ongoing actions aimed at exerting psychological pressure on the population of Nagorno-Karabakh and obstructing the entry of international humanitarian organizations into Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan is deliberately disrupting the normal operation of vital infrastructure in Nagorno-Karabakh, which clearly leads to the creation of a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh. We consider this blatant policy of systematic violence against the Armenians of Artsakh unacceptable.
The situation created makes urgent a clear response from the international community aimed at preventing a humanitarian crisis, as well as the immediate and unimpeded involvement of international humanitarian organizations in Nagorno-Karabakh.
