Gas supply to Artsakh was disrupted again shortly after midnight on Monday.
The Artsakh authorities insist they have sufficient grounds to assert that a valve was installed on the pipeline in the section under Azerbaijan’s control, after which, shortly after midnight, the pipe serving Artsakh’s 100,000 residents was simply shut off.
Lusine Avanesyan, press secretary of the President of Artsakh, said that if there were no evidentiary basis regarding the installation of the valve, no such statement would have been issued.
Without elaborating, the Artsakh authorities maintain that after the March 8 explosion, the Azerbaijani side, while repairing the pipeline, installed a device to open and close it, so that to halt gas supply the previous night there was no longer any need for an explosion.
Avanesyan reported that the command of the Russian peacekeepers has been informed of the situation and is negotiating the restoration of gas supply: “We are trying to resolve the issue. So far there is no progress in that regard.”
Even before the suspension of gas supply, kindergartens and schools in Artsakh had been closed for several days due to bad weather. As in the territory of Armenia, so in Artsakh, there were heavy precipitation for days and impassable roads. Winter weather still prevails in Artsakh, which makes the heating of houses and apartments all the more necessary.
