Armenian Republic Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan has been in contact with the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk. Armenian Defense Ministry press secretary Shushan Stepanyan wrote this on her Facebook page.
“Davit Tonoyan presented the situation created at the state border of the Republic of Armenia since 03:40, noting that the Azerbaijani side has numerous wounded and casualties.
The Defense Minister stated that the Azerbaijani side’s encroachments against the borders of the Republic of Armenia are being repelled with all available forces and means,” Stepanyan wrote.
At around 03:40 at night, the position-holders of the RA Armed Forces noticed enemy movement. Going into circular defense, the Armenian units prevented the enemy’s attempt at infiltration. After a fierce battle, the enemy, suffering losses, was pushed back. Subsequently, at 05:20, Azerbaijani units began shelling the villages of Aygepar and Movses, using mortars and D-30 howitzers.
