Jermuk is the direction where the adversary has achieved certain successes as a result of its attacks and has penetrated Armenia’s sovereign territory along a front 8.5 kilometres wide, to a depth of up to 7.5 kilometres. This was stated today, 16 September, during a meeting in Jermuk attended by ambassadors from 30 countries and representatives of international organisations, by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Edward Asryan:
“Those penetrations were carried out by groups and detachments, some of which are under the direct control of our units, and also in encirclements. At present, groups of Azerbaijani Armed Forces units are located at a distance of 4.5 kilometres from Jermuk,” he said, adding that before the military operations began, the adversary was at a distance of 11-12 kilometres from Jermuk.
“In the other 5 directions, the successes of the adversary’s armed forces units cannot be compared with the depths of penetration in the Jermuk direction, but there are also penetration depths of 1-2 km in some directions — in the Nerkin Hand direction, and they have gained a certain positional advantage in the Shorzha direction. In the other sectors, we have managed to push the adversary back. In the Ishkhanasar direction, they have achieved success to a depth of about half a km,” said the Chief of the General Staff.
