The disruption of natural gas supply from Armenia to Artsakh is not connected to Russia’s involvement in the conflict. This is another Azerbaijani provocation, through which they are trying to exert pressure on Artsakh.
During a conversation with “Haykakan Zhamanak,” Vigen Khachatryan, a deputy of the “Civil Contract” faction and member of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, expressed such a view.
Addressing the question of whether the disruption of gas supply is also a provocation against Russia and the Russian peacekeepers, the deputy reiterated that this is a method of pressure that the Azerbaijani side will periodically repeat: “We must think of methods to counter them, one of which is the establishment of a peace treaty.”
Vigen Khachatryan believes that everything must be done so that international partners notice and respond: “Daily work is being carried out with the international community to ensure appropriate responses.”
According to Vigen Khachatryan, Azerbaijan’s provocations of this kind will not yield results, since the Armenian side has seen provocations of this and other natures in the recent past.
“We must resist in this difficult situation, so that Azerbaijan is convinced that it cannot dictate any imposition through this path. Even in the darkest years, our people heroically withstood hardships. Azerbaijan should have well understood that it cannot impose anything on Artsakh through these methods,” noted Khachatryan.
According to Khachatryan, in the created situation, the authorities also have a great deal to do, particularly the Artsakh authorities must do everything so that appropriate assistance is provided to the people.
