During today’s question-and-answer session with the Government in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan elaborated on his meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Antalya.
According to the head of the foreign ministry, participating in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum was the right decision.
“We are confident that Armenia and Turkey can normalize their relations and open the borders. In this process, the meeting of the two ministers also had its positive impact. No clear agreement was reached, but both sides once again confirmed that they continue the dialogue without preconditions,” Mirzoyan emphasized.
The head of the foreign affairs department stated that other current issues were also discussed.
Referring to the fact that Cavusoglu did not wear a tie during their meeting and the reaction on social media about it, the Foreign Minister said, “That forum was declared a no-tie format. You can see from various photos that some are wearing ties and some are not.”
Regarding his smile in the photo with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mirzoyan said, “If I know, with all due respect to the feelings of all the victims and their family members, that my smile can save at least one soldier’s life in the future, then I will smile again and again.”
