On 1 December, within the framework of the 29th OSCE Ministerial Conference, Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan held a meeting with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. Armenpress was informed of this by the information service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the active development of the Armenia-European Union partnership and exchanged views on the expansion of the bilateral agenda.
During the meeting, the focus of Mirzoyan’s and Borrell’s attention was on issues of regional stability and security.
Mirzoyan underscored the Armenian side’s commitment to establishing peace in the South Caucasus and highly appreciated the European Union’s support in this direction. He stressed that Azerbaijan’s non-constructive position and maximalist aspirations hinder the efforts exerted to achieve peace and cause the likelihood of an escalation of the situation to rise. The need to eliminate the consequences of Azerbaijan’s attacks against Armenia’s sovereign territory was emphasised.
The interlocutors deemed important the deployment of the European Union observer mission in Armenia and discussed issues related to its activities.
