At the conclusion of the service period of the Armenian contingent serving within the ranks of the United Nations peacekeeping forces in South Lebanon, UNIFIL, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia organized a farewell ceremony. The event was dedicated to the members of the Armenian contingent who served for the preservation of stability and peace in South Lebanon.
Present were representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Armenian Catholic Church, the Armenian Evangelical Church, and the chairmen of the three Armenian political parties. The chairman of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party’s Lebanon Regional Board, Dr. Avedis Dakesian, and Vache Donerian represented the party at the event. The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Atabekian, and all the representatives expressed their heartfelt words and bid farewell to the Armenian soldiers.
The contingents of the Armenian army serving in the Middle East and in various countries of the world are the positive face of the Armenian people and raise the prestige and honour of the Armenian before the various peoples of the world. Glory and honour to the Armenian soldier who fulfils that sacred mission.
