Baku Continues Its Anti-Armenian Conduct: 14 Armenian Prisoners of War Could Be Sentenced to 14-20 Years in Prison

The indictment has been read at the court session in Baku in the criminal case against 14 Armenian prisoners of war, reported minval.az. The indictment has been read at the court session in Baku in the criminal case against 14 Armenian prisoners of war, reported minval.az.

Gegham Samveli Serobyan, Hrach Arzumani Avagyan, Armen Yeghiazari Baghasyan, Gor Vahrami Gasparyan, Kamo Karenji Sefilyan, Volodya Vachakani Hagopyan, Kevork Norayri Asertyan, Sisak Grishayi Yengoyan, Albert Komii Bedrosyan, Romik Misaki Sedrakyan, Aram Garniki Minosyan, Mkrtich Simoni Minosyan, Edgar Vachakani Mathesyan, Yuri Tigrani Karapetyan are accused of “terrorism” and “infiltration.”

According to the indictment, “the accused illegally acquired weapons and ammunition and created armed formations not provided for by law. These individuals violated the state border of Azerbaijan on November 26-27 and positioned themselves in the forest zone located in the northwestern part of the village of Hadrut in the Martuni district. The defendants committed terrorist provocations, attacks on individuals, explosions, fires and other terrorist acts in those areas until December 13, 2020, with the aim of disrupting public safety, creating panic among the population.”

They have been charged under Articles 214 (terrorism), 228 (illegal acquisition and possession of weapons and explosives), 279 (creation of illegal armed groups), and 318 (illegal crossing of the state border).

Judge Afghan Hajiyev stated that if the charges are confirmed during the trial, the defendants could be sentenced to 14 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
