Pope Francis has expressed serious concern over the ongoing acute conflicts in the world, including in Palestine, Syria and the Caucasus, reports Vaticannews.va.
Addressing members of the ROACO religious organisation at the Vatican on Thursday, which provides assistance to the Eastern Catholic Churches, the Holy Father recalled the doves released into the sky from the grounds of Khor Virap five years ago, in 2016, together with the Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, at the conclusion of his apostolic visit to Armenia, “as a sign and wish for peace in the entire Caucasus region.”
“Unfortunately, that region was wounded once again in recent months,” and for this reason he expressed gratitude for “the attention that was devoted to the reality of Armenia and Georgia, so that the Catholic community may continue to be a sign and leaven of evangelical life,” Francis summarised.
The Pope also called for heeding “the cries heard from many parts of the world, especially from those churches and countries for which you work.”
