The trilateral agreements reached between the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia should form the basis of the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement.
This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
“We proceed from the fact that the trilateral agreements reached between the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia in late 2020 and during 2021 should form the basis of the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement,” she said.
Zakharova recalled that Putin had discussed with Pashinyan and Aliyev the entire range of issues related to the implementation of those agreements, and that this was also discussed during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the three countries.
Issues related to the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the unblocking of transport links and the peace treaty were discussed.
“The fundamental principles proposed by Baku for establishing interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and Yerevan’s response to them, should serve as the basis for the start of Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations on a peace treaty,” she said.
“Russia is firmly committed to supporting the signing of a peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku,” was emphasised in the commentary.
