Moments ago, the Artsakh National Assembly adopted the statement unanimously.
Statement.
«The current legal-political status of the Republic of Artsakh has been formed through the expression of the popular will, under the influence of three referendums, the Constitution adopted as their result, and through the path of nationwide consensus established in previous years among all segments of the Armenian people.
The Armenians of Artsakh are fully aware of the price of peace. Artsakh’s statehood and the right to live freely and independently in the historic homeland are absolute values, and not even the threat of war can deter us from them.
Under the Armenia-Azerbaijan “peace” agenda, any negotiation process to annex Artsakh to Azerbaijan, in itself, as well as the signing of a document deriving from it, would undermine not only Artsakh’s statehood, but also the inalienable right of the Armenians of Artsakh to live in their historic homeland.
We demand that the authorities of the Republic of Armenia abandon their current disastrous position and be guided exclusively by these values. No authority has the right, under the pretext of “peace,” to lower the negotiating bar for a status unacceptable to Artsakh, as well as for the internationally recognized right to self-determination.
In the name of the Armenians of Artsakh, we address
· The worldwide Armenian diaspora to stand united and resolutely alongside the brothers and sisters of Armenia and Artsakh in this just struggle:
· Our colleagues in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia not to deviate from the course of the decision of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Armenia of July 8, 1992:
· The leadership of the Russian Federation not to give anyone the opportunity, during the peacekeeping mission so crucial to us, to exploit emerging issues as a basis for calling into question the future security of the people of Artsakh:
· The leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries to make efforts, notwithstanding other existing differences, to preserve the only internationally mandated format for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue:
