An extraordinary session was held in the National Assembly, with a single item on the agenda: the draft statement of the National Assembly on the humanitarian crisis created by Azerbaijan in Mountainous Karabakh, presented by the “Civil Contract” faction.
Artsvik Minasyan, secretary of the “Armenia” faction, noted that a meeting of the NA Council had been convened moments earlier, during which the opposition’s proposal to convene an extraordinary session was rejected. The opposition left the session hall.
“In our assessment, it is better that the CP’s statement not be made, because it not only harms Artsakh and Armenia, but will also help the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem. Our faction will not participate in the discussion of the matter,” said Minasyan.
At the same time, Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the “I Have Honor” faction, noted that in Artsakh there is not a humanitarian crisis, but that Artsakh stands at the threshold of war and genocide. He informed that they too would not participate in the session and would present their viewpoint at 16:00, in front of the government.
Hayk Konjoryan, head of the CP faction, responding to the draft presented by the opposition, said that during the NA Council meeting the opposition was urged to show unity and adopt one joint statement.
“The draft statement of the NA is not a toast; we must do concrete work. The opposition, naturally, refused, and also refused to participate in this discussion and present their observations. This means that the opposition did not want to receive a draft in the NA, but wanted a rally right in the NA,” he noted.
NA President Alen Simonyan, for his part, noted that the opposition’s agenda is known to all, and it is a waste of time.
