Former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Davit Tonoyan was arrested for 2 months by court decision. This was stated during a conversation with journalists in the yard of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction by Tonoyan’s defense attorney Sergey Hovhannisyan.
Davit Tonoyan and Davit Galstyan, the director of the organization supplying ammunition for the needs of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, are involved as defendants for embezzling more than 2.2 billion drams and committing forgeries.
It should be noted that yesterday, on 29 September, former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan and well-known arms supplier Davit Galstyan were brought to the Court of General Jurisdiction of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan.
Today, the hearing of the NSS’s motion to take Davit Tonoyan into custody took place at the Court of General Jurisdiction of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan.
Let us recall that yesterday a search was conducted at the residences of Tonoyan, as well as other former and current high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense.
