During a press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn, who is in Armenia on an official visit, addressed the issue of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor.
“Frankly speaking, I believe that there is a great force in the world that must demonstrate that not only are peacekeepers present in the Lachin Corridor, but that they must also act. We, as the European Union, are trying to play a role at the level that we can,” Asselborn stated.
He said that they can address a call to Russia to focus on what has happened, because in this century it is unacceptable that more than 100,000 people are isolated, as is the case in Artsakh, and that the elderly and children cannot return to their homes.
“According to international law, this is the homeland of the Armenians, and no one has the right to block the Lachin Corridor. And I hope that those who have the means to intervene will do so as effectively as possible,” Asselborn stated.
