“The Azerbaijani military units that penetrated the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on May 12 continue to carry out provocative actions in several directions. As a result of one of them, in the early morning of May 27, in the border section of the Gegharkunik Province of the Republic of Armenia, while carrying out engineering works in the area guarded by military unit N of the RA Armed Forces, six servicemen of the RA Armed Forces were surrounded and captured by Azerbaijani armed forces’ servicemen.
These provocative actions carried out by Azerbaijan’s military-political leadership are aimed at further escalating the situation, which could seriously endanger regional peace and stability.
We strongly condemn the use of force by Azerbaijan against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia and emphasize that Azerbaijan’s military-political leadership bears responsibility for all actions of the Azerbaijani military and their consequences. The captured Armenian servicemen must be returned immediately and unconditionally,” the statement said.
