By decision of the ADL Republican Board, out-of-town sessions of the Board are to be convened in all regional clubs of the party, with the aim of meeting party comrades in the localities, establishing close mutual acquaintance between the Board and the members of the clubs, and developing discussions through direct contacts around the activities of the clubs and their programmes.
The first out-of-town session was convened on 28 April 2024 at the Shirak regional office in Gyumri, under the chairmanship of ADL chairman Hrachya Karapetyan.
The members of the Board participated in two membership meetings of the Shirak region’s “Aragats” seniors’ and “Panos Terlemezyan” youth clubs.
The chairman of the Shirak region, Hovik Karapetyan, introduced the members of the Republican Board by name, and in turn the members of the clubs introduced themselves to the ADL’s leading political executive body.
Hrachya Karapetyan and vice-chairman Karen Kakoyan presented to the club members during the meetings the current internal and external political situation of the republic, and the global and regional developments, around which the members of the ADL’s primary structures exchanged views.
Emphasising that the party is a national traditional one, several members of the “Aragats” club noted that there is felt a need for the party to take an active, constructive and critical position regarding the internal and external policies of the republic’s authorities; in particular, a gradual distancing from national values is observed, as is the incomplete, piecemeal implementation of the function of delimitation and demarcation of the border with Azerbaijan, which brings dissatisfaction to certain segments of the people, and other issues. It was noted that the ADL is state-oriented, which will continue without deviating from the party’s principles.
Intra-party matters were also discussed, along with the problems and tasks of the region’s clubs; the question was raised of developing more active activity, and priority was given to the orientation of appearing more in the political field, by participating in local self-government elections, in regional and community political life, programmes and initiatives.
The Board attached particular importance to the expansion of the youth club’s activities, the use of the potential of student youth, and the frequent organisation of targeted events of interest to them.
The members of the Republican Board recorded that the out-of-town session was extremely productive and the contacts were important, and therefore sessions will be held in all regional structures.
