On Wednesday, April 14, a meeting of the representatives of the Lebanese structures of the three Armenian political parties — the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party, the Ramgavar Azadagan Party and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation — took place at the “Shaghzoyan” Center.
Ahead of the commemoration of the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the inter-party meeting was an occasion to once again underscore the unified Armenian stance regarding the restoration of Armenian historical rights. In this regard, the attendees also reaffirmed the timelessness of the Armenian claim struggle until the full international recognition, condemnation and just compensation for the crime of the Armenian Genocide by the genocidal Turkish state.
The attendees viewed the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against the Armenians on September 27, 2020, with Turkey’s direct support, as a striking manifestation of neo-Ottoman and pan-Turanian expansionist policy, as a result of which Azerbaijan seized a large portion of the territory of the Republic of Artsakh, and, as a continuation of genocidal crimes, the hostilities were accompanied by acts reflecting Turkey’s genocidal character directed against the civilian population, while to this day hundreds of Armenian prisoners and hostages are held in Azerbaijan, subjected to inhuman treatment.
The representatives of the Armenian political parties stressed that after this heavy territorial and human loss suffered by the Armenian people, today, more than ever, the consolidation of the potential of the entire Armenian nation is an imperative necessity to strengthen Armenian unity, to keep the national claim march unbroken, to halt the aggressive and expansionist appetites of enemy Turkey and Azerbaijan toward the Armenians and Armenia, which continue to this day, and also to heal the consequences of the 44-day Artsakh war.
The meeting also addressed the achievements recorded on international platforms during the past year in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the claim march of the Armenian Cause, which further unsettle the enemy, who is trying to call into question and threaten, through various means, the inter-state relations with countries that support the Armenian Cause.
Within the same framework of neo-Ottoman and pan-Turanian expansionist policy, the participants of the meeting addressed with concern Turkey’s interventions in the internal affairs of Arab countries, as well as Turkey’s destabilizing role in the Eastern Mediterranean region, noting that the hyperactive role displayed by the Turkish state is the result of the neo-Ottoman expansionist ideology it has adopted.
The meeting was an occasion to address the crises and challenges faced by the Armenian community due to the unstable political, socio-economic and health situation created in Lebanon, and in this context it was deemed necessary to guarantee the continuity of the work carried out through unified efforts to respond to the community’s needs and to keep its pan-Armenian historic role unbroken.
Proceeding from all these considerations, the three Armenian political parties decided, while adopting the necessary precautions related to the “Corona” pandemic, to commemorate this year as well, with a unified stance, the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on Saturday, April 24, immediately after the Holy Liturgy to be held in the compound of the Catholicosate of Antelias under the auspices of His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos, and the church service dedicated to the one and a half million holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. The event will be broadcast online and made accessible to the entire Armenian nation.
