Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has sent a congratulatory message to Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the successful holding of the parliamentary elections. The message reads, in particular:
“Dear Mr Prime Minister,
I congratulate you on the successful holding of the early parliamentary elections of 20 June. I welcome the fact that international observers, including the delegation of our Parliamentary Assembly, assessed these elections as competitive and generally well-organised.
It is important that the election results demonstrate the unequivocal support of the Armenian people for the reform policy carried out under your leadership. Now that the election campaign is over, it is time to focus on constructive dialogue with political parties and civil society. In this regard, I reaffirm the Council of Europe’s readiness to continue supporting Armenia in the reform process, based on the standards of human rights, democracy and the rule of law”:
