After a prolonged recess, the court hearing in the case of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan and three other former high-ranking officials, accused of overthrowing the constitutional order, began today at the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction.
Robert Kocharyan’s defense lawyers submitted a motion to the court, requesting the immediate release of Robert Kocharyan from custody, citing the Constitutional Court’s decision.
All the defendants came to court today — not only Robert Kocharyan, but also former high-ranking officials Yuri Khachaturov, Seyran Ohanyan and Armen Gevorgyan. Representatives of the legal successors of the March 1 victims and the injured parties were also present at the court.
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Anna Danibekyan, has retired to the deliberation room to make a decision regarding the preventive measure for Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan.
