The discussion on stopping the war first took place at the Security Council session held on 19 October. This was stated today, 25 March, by Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan during a brief exchange with journalists after the government session, insisting that Onik Gasparyan had not said on the 4th day that the war should be stopped.
“It was at that Security Council session that the idea was voiced that we should stop, that in 2-3 days our capabilities would no longer suffice. By the way, the leaders of the opposition factions also participated in that Security Council session,” he said.
As to the question of why they did not refute Onik Gasparyan’s statement earlier, but refuted it only when the General Staff began demanding Pashinyan’s resignation, Grigoryan said that they had spoken about this when he was dismissed from his job and left, not when he demanded resignation: “We were that late, taking into account the domestic political situation and the overall security environment; we found it better to focus on the work, on army-building, on reforms, rather than on those issues.”
