National Assembly deputy Arman Papajanyan has issued a statement on his Facebook page, in which he said.
«Very good news for the residents of border villages (directly bordering Azerbaijan)
Today, after prolonged negotiations, we reached an agreement with major entrepreneurs from Armenia and the diaspora on the intention to launch a large-scale program aimed at boosting the birth rate in all Armenian settlements directly bordering Azerbaijan.
And so…
The program envisages a one-time payment equivalent to $1,000 USD for every newborn child born to parents registered and residing in a border village (having a direct border with Azerbaijan) over the past three years, as well as a monthly payment of 100,000 drams until the child reaches the age of three.
The program will include settlements in the Tavush, Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor provinces that have a direct border with Azerbaijan.
Starting tomorrow, we will begin studying the statistics, the current situation and the trends.
The program will be launched in the spring of 2020.
We believe that with the introduction of such a large-scale program, it will be possible to substantially change the demographic picture of border settlements.
