Turkey’s Presidential Directorate of Communications has taken another step toward the denial of the Armenian Genocide by creating a website named “1915.gov.tr,” whose working language is English. The website’s declared purpose is to fight “against the claims of the Armenian Genocide.” This is reported by ermenihaber.
Fahrettin Altun, head of Turkey’s Presidential Directorate of Communications, commenting on the establishment of the new website, said: “This website, relying on historical facts, will respond on every occasion in the international arena to the slander about the Armenian Genocide put before us.”
The website contains the following sections:
“Events of 1915,”
“Official decrees,”
“Court rulings,”
“Armenian terrorism,”
“Q&A”:
The website promotes theses put forward by the Turkish state regarding the denial of the Armenian Genocide, such as “leaving history to historians,” “opening the archives,” “shared pain,” “mutual casualties,” and the idea that “decisions by third-country parliaments harm Armenian-Turkish normalization.”
The website presents, in a separate section, information about Turkish diplomats killed in operations of the “Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia” (ASALA) during 1975-85.
