Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan presented the newly appointed Minister Armen Pambukhchyan to the staff of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations.
This was reported by the RA government.
The Prime Minister wished Mr. Pambukhchyan success in his important work and expressed hope that thanks to his tenure, the level of effectiveness of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will rise.
In Armenia, the rule of law must ultimately not remain just a headline, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“Equality of all before the law must not be just a headline, and ultimately it is so, and it was so even before these events. I hope that we all perceive this message very clearly and directly,” the Prime Minister said.
Armen Pambukhchyan was appointed Minister of Emergency Situations by a presidential decree. Former Minister Andranik Piloyan, who is accused of participating in corrupt transactions and has been detained since March 31, was dismissed from office on April 1.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that he deeply regrets such a development of events, reminded of the presumption of innocence, and urged that this presumption also guide the proceedings.
Andranik Piloyan had been Minister of Emergency Situations since November 2020, when Felix Tsolakyan, who had held the post since 2018, submitted his resignation. During the intense days of the war, Pashinyan had stated that Piloyan would be awarded the title of “National Hero.” Two days later, he was awarded the title of “National Hero” by a presidential decree.
