The National Assembly of the 8th convocation of the Republic of Armenia will hold its inaugural session on 26 July. This was stated by former Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Kevork Danielyan.
“They are convening a session on 26 July, because they have nominated a candidate for prime minister, the president will sign, and they will begin electing the Speaker of the National Assembly, deputies, and so on,” he said.
According to the results of the early parliamentary elections, the “Civil Contract” party received 71 mandates, the “Armenia” alliance 29, and the “I Have Honor” alliance 7.
It should be noted that the “Civil Contract” party received 658,761 votes, or 53.91% of the voters’ votes, the “Armenia” alliance received 269,481 votes, or 21.09%, and the “I Have Honor” alliance 66,650 votes, or 5.22%.
Let us recall that 21 parties and 4 alliances participated in the early parliamentary elections.
The threshold for parties is 5 percent, and for alliances 7 percent.
On 17 July, the Constitutional Court of Armenia upheld the Central Electoral Commission’s decision regarding the early elections to the National Assembly.
Let us recall that four political forces — the “Armenia” and “I Have Honor” alliances, as well as the “Zartonk” and “Hayots Hayrenik” parties — had appealed to the Constitutional Court to challenge the final results of the elections published by the Central Electoral Commission.
