Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan today presented to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Geneva the latest developments in the process of regulating Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The information was reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
The head of Armenia’s foreign policy department addressed the severe humanitarian situation created by the blockade of the Lachin corridor.
“Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the imperative of immediately stopping Azerbaijan’s blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh without preconditions, in accordance with the provisions of the trilateral statement of 9 November 2020. In this context, the implementation of the decision issued on 22 February regarding the application of provisional measures against Azerbaijan by the International Court of Justice was also emphasized,” the statement said.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on issues of regional security and stability.
The foreign ministers of Armenia and Iran underscored the deepening of cooperation and the investment of joint efforts in areas of mutual interest, including energy, transport and infrastructure.
Issues related to interaction in a bilateral format, as well as on multilateral platforms, were addressed. The high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Iran was emphasized.
Let us recall that the Foreign Ministry had announced that Mirzoyan departed on a working visit to Geneva on 27-28 February to participate in the high-level segment of the 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council. Meetings with a number of partners are also expected.
