With the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia having been blocked by Azerbaijan for 78 days now, and under the continuous pressure generated by the uncertainties and threats arising from recent Azerbaijani criminal actions, the indicators of a number of diseases and complications have increased in Artsakh compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the Artsakh Ministry of Health.
Among these are ischemic heart disease — up 58%, stroke — up 36%, birth complications — up 11.6%, and a number of other diseases.
An increase in nervous and psychological problems is being recorded among adults and especially children compared to the same period last year, manifested in a 46% increase in children’s visits to a neurologist and psychologist, and a 47% increase in the case of adults.
Compared to the same period last year, cases of surgical intervention due to intestinal obstruction have increased by 25%, which may be due to food shortages.
And due to periodic complete interruptions of gas supply and incomplete restoration, 30 cases of carbon monoxide (CO2) poisoning have been recorded.
