The content of the resolution adopted by the lower house of the French parliament is not the official position of the country’s government. This was stated by France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The French government’s position is known and has been expressed on numerous occasions by the minister, particularly on 29 November of last year. France continues to urge the parties to move forward in the negotiations, taking advantage of the opportunity for peace,” the department emphasised.
In the statement by France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was also noted that in this very spirit, the French president held a meeting in Prague between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which led to the expansion of the EU observer mission on Armenian territory.
