The furnishing of positions is a matter of protecting soldiers’ rights; we are meticulously studying all issues and conducting monitoring visits. I regularly visit Syunik Province and have submitted extensive information to the Ministry of Defense, in which we have identified not only issues of position furnishing but also issues pertaining to the moral-psychological state, the directions for overcoming them, and solutions. This is what Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan said.
Tatoyan noted that as a result of the exchange of fire that took place yesterday at the border positions in Gegharkunik, they received alerts concerning the villages of Norabak, Verin Shorzha, Nerkin Shorzha, and Kut.
“Here we must take into account the following: the Azerbaijani armed servicemen have carried out the attacks mainly from the territories that pertain to the May incursions,” the Human Rights Defender noted.
“We also have the third incursion, which we ourselves have identified; it took place during the war, around October 20. In the area adjacent to the village of Tsav in Kapan, which formally falls within the territory of the Republic of Armenia according to the map. The Azerbaijanis are immediately deployed in the vicinity of our villages and on lands belonging to residents; their presence has no legal basis, especially since they appeared there by force of the threat of a new war, the threat of attacks. This nullifies and delegitimizes their presence. When the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia constantly makes statements about this, it should not be distorted, as was the case some time ago; we are demonstrating their illegitimacy. Their actions were plain proof of this. We have no time; we must act urgently, events are developing rapidly, and the more we delay, the more the rights of our border residents remain unsecured,” said Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan.
