German foreign policy politicians are calling on Azerbaijan to end the blockade of the Lachin corridor to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, where 120,000 people have been cut off from all supplies for days.

According to Armenpress, Jürgen Hardt, foreign policy spokesman for the CDU (Christian Democratic Union)/CSU (Christian Social Union) parliamentary group in the Bundestag, has called on the Azerbaijani government to end the blockade of the Lachin corridor between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Despite Azerbaijan’s insistence that it is seeking a diplomatic solution, the conflict is not subsiding,” Hardt told RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND), adding: “Clearly, the blockaders are supported by Baku. The Baku government must immediately end the blockade.”

Jürgen Trittin, foreign policy spokesman for the Greens parliamentary group in the Bundestag, has also demanded that Azerbaijan immediately end the blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh, warning that otherwise a humanitarian catastrophe threatens.

“Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also needs clear signals from Europe that he must open the Lachin corridor. Azerbaijan’s new role as an important energy supplier for Europe must not be a reason for Brussels to respond mildly,” Trittin said.
