More than 5 months after the war, the remains of fallen Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Hagopyan have been discovered. Davit Davtyan, a journalist for the Ministry of Defense’s “Zinuzh” program, reported this on his Facebook page.

He, in particular, noted.

“We found him. We lost him forever. The hero.

He fell without retreating. He became immortal leading the troops.

The moment of final farewell has come. To our senior colleague, our finest officer.

Arthur Hagopyan’s requiem service is on Thursday. At the Surp Sarkis Church in Nor Nork.

Glory and honor to you, dear Hagopyan.”

Earlier, on March 20, Davtyan had written on his page that Lieutenant Colonel Hagopyan, who was the chief of staff of the southern military unit of Artsakh, had gone missing. The journalist had recounted an episode from his meeting with the lieutenant colonel.

“Hagopyan was the one coordinating the battle — the attack, the defense, the counterattack. I sat beside him for a few minutes and watched him conduct the military operations. He was a very tough guy. Without fear, without panic, forgetting himself, firing alongside the fighters.

I did not want to disturb Arthur (ask questions). At one point, when there was a lull, for a few minutes, I asked what was happening; without taking offense, he answered briefly, look at the screen and you will see, it is not something to be told.

At this stronghold, we also came under Smerch fire. It was not necessary; he continued talking to the boys fighting on the front line, asking about the wounded. Then he could not bear it; he handed the radio to his comrades-in-arms, got equipped, and left. We did not know in which direction,” he wrote.

Let us recall that during the days of the war, in one of the reports prepared by “Zinuzh,” Arthur Hagopyan had said.

“Hit them, hit them.”
