“There is no power structure or administrative system in the world that can solve a problem of this scale,” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a Facebook live broadcast regarding the large number of new cases of the coronavirus.
“In recent days I have had very harsh conversations with both the chief of police and the director of the National Security Service, primarily for failing to present the scale of the problem and the situation correctly. Because what I saw with your help is simply a disaster. The power structure may work like clockwork, but it cannot regulate this problem. I want us to note this. The problem is not in the person responsible; I am responsible, but does that change anything for the relatives of the dying?” said Pashinyan.
“What is happening in schools, in banks, in markets, in HayPost, in the Ararat customs house,” said the Prime Minister, emphasizing that the government alone is not capable of solving this problem unless everyone in society considers it their own.
“Hospital beds are running out, dear compatriots; they will soon run out, because this process cannot be stopped in one day, and I am convinced that if we had kept the rules we should have kept, we would have had 95 percent fewer cases. Each of us must admit our mistake and take a step back from this road leading to the abyss. This is my message,” he said, noting that this does not mean the police should relax their vigilance.
“I see the possibility that we will finally change our attitude towards ourselves, towards the rules, towards the law, towards the safety of the other person.
This is our common problem, and we must solve this problem together,” concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
