The factory producing Kalashnikov rifles in Armenia is to open during the first ten days of July.
This was announced to the InfoPort.am website by Igor Kardenko, a representative of the enterprise’s management.
The factory has been established on the basis of a cooperation agreement between Neutron Gam and the Russian company Kalashnikov, which was finally signed on 25 May 2020, for a term of ten years.
That agreement went through a long process of coordination and approval in the Russian Federation. First there were interdepartmental and other technical approvals, followed by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation. The decree of the President of the Russian Federation was issued in August 2019, after which the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (ФС ВТС) approved and permitted the signing of the agreement between the companies for a term of ten years. After that, the agreement must be extended every year only if the relevant conditions are met.
In the initial period, the assembly of AK-103 type rifles is to be carried out at the military-industrial factory. The rifle parts are to be brought from Russia and assembled from scratch in the enterprise’s workshops.
