Achieving peace means having regulated relations with the 4 neighbors. Presenting the 2022 implementation of the government’s program in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement, speaking about the peace agenda.
According to him, since with Georgia and Iran we have the task not of regulating but of deepening relations, peace therefore means regulated relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
“And how realistic is that, to what extent will Azerbaijan’s actions be aimed at peace. And if compromises are reached at the political-diplomatic level, to what extent will they be acceptable to the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, and to what extent will the citizens allow the practical implementation of those compromises, sometimes painful solutions. This is our responsibility. We must make the course of our thoughts and actions understandable to the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, and when they understand, they will accept it,” said Pashinyan.
According to him, peace is possible if the 29,800 square kilometer territory of the Republic of Armenia (Armenian SSR) is clearly recognized in international relations, and we declare that we have no territorial claims against any other country. Otherwise, at least the non-existence of our state will become a problem on others’ agenda. In this situation, no one will help us.
Pashinyan added that in 2022, more than 29,000 people acquired housing through the mortgage income tax program. According to him, this means that people have believed in the peace agenda.
