The situation created after the provocations carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on 12 and 13 May had not changed as of the evening of 18 May. The situation is relatively calm. This was announced by the RA Ministry of Defence.
The RA Ministry of Defence emphasises the need for a peaceful settlement of the issue and highly appreciates the efforts contributed in that direction by various countries and international structures, taking into account their calls for a peaceful resolution. In this regard, the negotiations that began on 14 May are still ongoing.
Nevertheless, in the absence of a peaceful settlement within reasonable timeframes, that is, if Azerbaijani servicemen do not return to their starting positions without preconditions, the RA armed forces reserve the right to resolve the issue by other means, including the use of force.
We declare once again that any encroachment on the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia is absolutely unacceptable, and Azerbaijani servicemen are obliged to leave the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
