If Azerbaijan’s rocket attacks do not stop within the next 1-2 days and the ceasefire is not restored, Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan will appeal to Armenia and the world to recognize the independence of the Republic of Artsakh. He made this statement at a press conference on October 11.
“The states that support Azerbaijan are protecting terrorism. Artsakh will exercise its right to self-defense and will never be part of Azerbaijan,” he said. Speaking about the implementation of the agreement to establish a humanitarian ceasefire on the line of contact, Harutyunyan stated that Azerbaijan had grossly violated that agreement. “Do they want a prolonged war? Fine, they have chosen that option. We did not start the war,” Harutyunyan declared.
Referring to the events in Hadrut, he stated: “Since Aliyev announced that they had captured Hadrut, as a final blow before the ceasefire he chose the town of Hadrut and, apparently together with other countries, formed infiltration groups whose goal was to capture the town of Hadrut. They managed to get those groups into the town of Hadrut and its vicinity, but we were able to regroup and resist, and today the mayor of Hadrut is in the administrative building of Hadrut.”
Arayik Harutyunyan also said that beyond the statements and calls from the international community, more substantive actions are expected.
