“The ceasefire agreement reached in Moscow on 9 October between the presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan has been repeatedly violated by the adversary. We expect the support of the civilised world against the penetration of international terrorism into the region, and not merely through appeals,” Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan said during a press conference.
He recalled that international terrorists are fighting against Artsakh’s liberation struggle. “Smerch,” “Polonez” UAVs — Azerbaijan uses such weapons against the peaceful population and civilian infrastructure. “There is no place in Stepanakert where those shells have not exploded several times,” the Artsakh President noted, adding that universal human values are being trampled by Azerbaijan and a process of annihilation of the population is under way.
“After all this, they propose conditions to the population of Artsakh,” he said, noting that Artsakh, with the support of Armenia and the Diaspora, is exercising its right to self-defence.
“Artsakh shall not be part of Azerbaijan,” Harutyunyan stressed.
He stated that if Azerbaijan does not honour the ceasefire requirements in the coming day or two, Artsakh will appeal to the Armenian authorities, the international community and all countries of the world to recognise Artsakh’s independence.
Harutyunyan noted that since morning the situation has been relatively calm, with very small exchanges of fire on the front line and regular artillery being used; yesterday, however, there was no ceasefire.
